Batteries Plus Bulbs of Casa Grande, a franchise location owned and operated by Glenda Stewart since July 2013, has been a great addition to a community in need of a one-stop source for a wide variety of high quality batteries and light bulbs. As a franchisee, Stewart is excited to have the opportunity to serve her community, offering these great products along with superior customer service, which includes an extremely friendly and knowledgeable staff and a willingness to go the extra mile.
“I’ve always been a person that tries to help others. My biggest reward in this company is that I can do just that. I am very hands-on and eager to participate in every aspect of this business. Every day I come into the store, I do not feel I am arriving to work. Rather, it is a chance to meet new people and interact with great customers and my employees. This interaction allows me to guide people toward making a decision that will benefit their needs. It doesn’t feel like a job because I love what I do, so I must be doing something right.”
It’s this personal touch that sets Stewart apart from many business owners, and it reflects on how her store operates in the marketplace. Being able to engage with customers in an assisted-sales environment was one of the key factors that led her to investing in Batteries Plus Bulbs. Whether a customer visits the store directly or calls on the phone, they can always count on being addressed in a professional and courteous manner.
“People in our community want to be treated as individuals with specific needs and unique problems to solve. Therefore, rather than just pointing them to an aisle, I wanted to have the chance to meet my customers, get to know them, adequately solve their problems and answer their questions.”
However, it’s not just her friendly personality that makes Stewart an ideal franchisee in this industry. Paying close attention to details, she thrives at diligently studying new material. This works well when learning the nuances of the thousands of different types of products her store carries. Likewise, after painstakingly investigating this franchise opportunity, she came to her decisive conclusion – invest in a company that provides products and services that every home and business owner needs.
“People and businesses alike all use batteries and bulbs. The question is, where can consumers find a trusted source for these items? From a customer’s perspective, I take satisfaction in knowing that Batteries Plus Bulbs provides a vast range of products at reasonable prices, along with exceptional warranties.”
“One of our loyal customers called and said that after he had stopped to get gas at a local gas station his car would not start again. He asked if we could please come and install a new battery for him, because he was blocking the pumps from other customers. I had 2 of my employees rush to change the battery. I suggested 2 of them go, just in case it wasn’t the battery and the car needed to be pushed out of the way. Luckily, it was only the battery. Subsequently, when this customer arrived at the store to pay for his battery, he said we now had a customer for life because we did not hesitate to help him out when he was in dire need.”
Stewart has three full-time employees and one part-time employee, which she believes are her greatest assets.
“My employees and I do all we can to try and satisfy all of our customers’ needs. Therefore, it’s not uncommon to stay late, or open early, to accommodate them.”
Stewart’s long hours don’t just stop at the store. She is also a member of three area Chambers of Commerce and a volunteer at her local police department. Now that she’s comfortable with the way her store is running, she’s eager to get out and meet some new commercial customers, too. If her track record and vivacious personality offer any indication of what the future holds for Stewart, local businesses will soon take notice of her, as well. And with her positive attitude and incredible attention to personal customer service, they’ll undoubtedly be glad they did.
You know how to run a business but in terms of running this kind of business, it was all totally new to us. I guess I’m still an expert in training, but we’re learning a lot. We’re learning every day, and the process works. It’s very exciting. I love getting up in the morning and going to work, and I would say I’d do it again. Mike Brunhild
There are three parts to this business: you have retail, commercial, and technical. I looked at a lot of the businesses that were for sale and I realized that they were for sale for a reason. This franchise concept continues to change and grow. We have been in business for over ten years and I still enjoy coming to work every morning. Don Tollefson
