The holiday season is in full swing, and we are again surrounded by the familiar sights and sounds that we associate with this time of year. However, the way we listen to music and view videos and movies is very different than in years past. With the rapid proliferation of mobile devices, we have almost unlimited access to these holiday favorites, and it appears we’re taking advantage of it. MORE SCREENS According to Mary Meeker’s Annual Internet Trends Report, which came out earlier this year, not surprisingly, Millenials are leading the push for mobile device use, and the number of multiple-screen households is climbing (up to 88%) because of it. Smartphones and tablets are shipping at four to five times the volume of PCs and TVs, and roughly 84% of mobile users report viewing a second screen while watching their primary TV at the same time, double what it was in 2012. Additionally, according to a study by Motorola that came out last year: people who own tablets watch more TV than those who don’t almost half of TV watching in the bedroom is now done on a tablet while watching the actual TV still dominates viewing in the living room, tablets and smartphones are gaining ground here, as well (over 40%) Where will you be watching your favorite holiday movie this year? Will you stream it on your PC, tablet or phone? Or, will you DVR it and watch it on your big-screen TV when you have a couple of hours to relax and enjoy it? Opportunities abound. SONGS ON DEMAND Also, with the advent of being able to download any song we want whenever we want, our ability to listen to our favorite songs of the season has never been easier. Whether using a Bluetooth enabled wireless speaker or listening on some state-of-the-art headphones at our desk at work, it’s become incredibly convenient to get into the holiday spirit wherever we are. With that said, here’s a list of the most digitally-downloaded holiday songs ever. However, there’s a trick to identifying them. Can you name these top 10 songs (not listed in order of popularity)? Have a safe and happy holiday season, and DON’T FORGET THE BATTERIES!
